Old-Fashioned Raspberry Freezer Jam

This Old-Fashioned Raspberry Freezer Jam will become a staple in your household! Sweet, delicious, and simple to make...even you can do it!

It always amazes me how tasting, smelling, or maybe even just thinking about a certain food can take you back to specific time in your life.  You can see the people who were there, you can hear the sounds...for a split second you are back in that moment.  Now don't get me wrong.  This type of experience is not always pleasant...but we won't go there!

In the case of this Old-Fashioned Raspberry Freezer Jam, just seeing it takes me back to my great-grandma's kitchen.  It was a small kitchen, maybe just 10 feet by 10 feet, but wow...did she create magic in that kitchen.  At all hours of the day, you could find her in there cooking, baking, or canning something.  My aunt always jokes that our family could have shown up unannounced, and somehow, someway, Grandma would have a seven-course meal "already in the oven" and served in no time!

While she was always creating something in the kitchen, there are a few signature items that she was known for.  Sally Ann cookies, homemade potato doughnuts, and Old-Fashioned Raspberry Freezer Jam are a few.  Each summer, we would all anticipate her delivery of jam.  Then, for as long as we could, we would savor every bit of it.  Her Old-Fashioned Raspberry Freezer Jam was like gold to us.  We would do anything we could to get our hands on some.

Sadly, my great-grandma passed away in the summer of 2015.  While I will never be able to replace her witty comments and spunky personality, I have made it a goal of mine to keep her memory alive through her signature recipes.  Even in her 80s, we taught her to use a computer and she became an avid Facebook user.  I know she would just giggle if she knew her recipe was being shared on the internet.

She would also have a big smile on her face if she knew that I was passing her traditions and recipes down to my own children.  My little two were so excited to hit the raspberry patch to pick berries for our jam.
