I love making sugar cookies. They're one of my go-tos whenever I make cookies. These delicious cookies are simple to make and the icing I added to the top makes them so colorful and fun.
Ingredients
You only need a few simple ingredients to make these equally simple cookies.
Cookie Ingredients:
- sugar
- butter
- eggs
- milk
- vanilla
- flour
- baking powder
- salt
Icing Ingredients:
- powdered sugar
- milk
- vanilla
- green, pink, yellow, and blue food coloring
- sprinkles of your choice
Instructions
It takes several steps to make these cookies, but they're all very easy when you break them down.
Cookie Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
Step 2: Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together with a hand mixer.
Step 4: Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix again until smooth.
Step 5: Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until dough forms.
Step 6: Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them onto a prepared baking sheet.
Step 7: Using a glass dipped in flour, press each dough ball down until it is about 1/2-inch thick.
Step 8: Bake for 9 minutes or until the tops begin to brown.
Step 9: Allow cookies to cool completely.
Icing Directions:
Step 10: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla together.
Step 11: If icing is too thick, add more milk. If icing is too thin, add more powdered sugar.
Step 12: Split icing between 4 small bowls
Step 13: Add 2 drops of color food coloring to each bowl, creating 4 different colored icing.
Step 14: Dip cooled cookies into the icing.
Step 15: Immediately add sprinkles of your choice.
Step 16: Allow icing to harden and serve.
