Wooden Keepsake Baby Blocks
As a mom of four little sweethearts, I can still remember the second I saw each of them for the first time. Those exact moments will be etched in my mind forever. Being able to hold and hug and kiss that little miracle that I had dreamed about for months was simply surreal!
Recently, a cousin of mine was blessed with her first baby girl. As I walked through the store aisles trying to find the perfect gift, I just wasn't having any luck. Don't get me wrong, I found plenty of adorable things, but nothing really stood out. I wanted to give her something sweet, something special, something unique. And that's when I decided on the perfect gift. It didn't come from a store shelf. Instead, I made these Wooden Keepsake Baby Blocks right in my own home.
Check out the simple tutorial below so you too can create this awesome gift!
Materials Needed for Wooden Keepsake Baby Blocks:
- 4 wooden blocks - I cut mine from some old 4" x 4" wooden deck posts that were about to become a campfire. After cutting, I was sure to sand the sides and edges to create a smooth surface.
- Dark Walnut Wood Stain
- Elmer's Wood Glue
- White Oil-Based Paint Marker
- Ribbon (color of your choice)
Step 1: Sand and stain the wooden blocks. Allow to dry according to the directions on your stain.
Step 2: Using wood glue, attach all four blocks together. Once again, allow them to dry according to the glue directions.
Step 3: Using the paint marker, write all of those precious baby statistics on the blocks. (For anyone who is wondering, the block in the top left is the first letter of baby's last name.)
Step 4: Finish everything off by attaching a perfectly colored ribbon. I used a dab of hot glue.
That is it! It is really that simple! My plan is to create Wooden Keepsake Baby Blocks for each of my children. Not only is it a cute piece of decor for their bedrooms, but it is a sweet reminder of the first moment I held each of them in my arms!
