Air Fryer Churros are crispy air-fried snacks that are dusted in cinnamon sugar. These make the perfect snack or dessert.

Churros are a fun addition to any party.  A while back, before the pandemic craziness, I visited a friend of mine. She was making fried churros for her kids. I tried these delicious cinnamon sugar snacks that she was making, and I fell in love right away.

Air Fryer Churros

A churro is a fried snack that is usually dusted with cinnamon sugar. Churros are traditionally made from dough that is shaped into the distinctive ridged shape and then deep-fried in oil or lard. Next, they are rolled in a cinnamon-sugar mixture once they are removed from the fryer. Air Fryer Churros are filled with all the flavors of traditional churros, but they are made without oil or butter. Air Fryer Churros make a great snack or dessert treat in addition to your air fryer recipes.

Ingredients

These easy homemade churros only require four basic ingredients, and you most likely already have all of these ingredients on hand.

  • pie crusts
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • caramel sauce

How to Make Air Fryer Churros

Allow pie crusts to sit out to reach room temperature and this will cause it to unfold easily and not crack.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar and then transfer the cinnamon sugar mixture to a Ziplock bag and set aside.

Roll pie crusts out on a non-stick surface. Using a pizza cutter, cut dough into small squares. You may need to rework some of the dough and roll it out again to use as much of it as possible.

Place the squares into a greased air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching. You will have to bake them in a couple of batches.

And then, cook at 400°F for 6 minutes or until they are golden brown.

While churros are still warm, place them in the cinnamon sugar mixture in the ziplock bag. Next, toss them gently until they are coated.

Serve churros with caramel sauce and enjoy.

FAQ

How do I store leftovers?

Leftovers are best eaten when they are fresh. However, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 24 hours before serving.

These are best enjoyed warm. You can heat the leftovers in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or serve them cold as well. My family prefers these churros fresh right out of the air fryer.

Yes! They can be frozen for up to 1 month before they start to lose that crisp texture. They can be easily reheated in a microwave or oven.
