Easy Homestyle Coleslaw


This easy homestyle coleslaw is rich, creamy, and just like your grandma used to make. It has an easy twist, though - it uses bagged coleslaw mix!

I love making coleslaw, but I don't want to take the time to shred everything individually to prepare it. To make things easier, I love to use bagged coleslaw mix and skip the bulk of the prep work.

Homestyle Coleslaw

Coleslaw has always been one of my favorite sides. It's so cool and creamy, and it's the perfect complement to almost any dish. Making it with bagged mix allows me to get all that great flavor without hours of prep.

It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this easy recipe.

  • pre-mixed coleslaw
  • Miracle Whip
  • milk
  • sugar
  • salt
  • pepper
  • sunflower seeds
  • almonds
  • red grapes

In just a few easy steps, you'll have delicious coleslaw that you'd never know was semi-homemade.

Step 1: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together Miracle Whip, milk, sugar, salt, and pepper.

Step 2: Place coleslaw mix in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3: Pour Miracle Whip mix over top and mix together.

Step 4: Add sunflower seeds, almonds, and grapes. Mix together.

Step 5: Chill and serve.

You don't need much of anything to make this easy coleslaw. It only takes a few kitchen basics.

Mayonnaise: If you don't like Miracle Whip, feel free to use mayonnaise.

Pecans: Pecans work well in place of almonds.

This easy homestyle coleslaw takes out the bulk of the work by using bagged coleslaw mix. It's as good as grandma's but with much less work.

  • 1 bag pre-mixed coleslaw
1 cup Miracle Whip

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 cup sunflower seeds

  • 1/4 sliced almonds

  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, sliced


  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together Miracle Whip, milk, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place coleslaw mix in a large mixing bowl. Pour Miracle Whip mix over top and mix together.
  3. Add sunflower seeds, almonds, and grapes. Mix together.
  4. Chill and serve.
