3-Ingredient Pie Crust
I love making pie, and thanks to this pie recipe, every part of my pies is now fool-proof. This easy recipe is so simple and makes a great crust. I don't know about you, but I'm a big fan of simplicity!
Ingredients
It only takes a handful of simple ingredients that you already have in your kitchen to make this recipe.
- flour
- salt
- butter
- water
Instructions
It only takes 5 simple steps to make this pie crust.
Step 1: Place flour and salt in a 9-inch pie plate. Mix together. (If you are in a hurry or don’t feel like taking your time and being neat, you can also mix this together in a bowl.)
Step 2: Add melted butter and water. Continue mixing until dough forms. I like to use my hands to combine the ingredients well. The dough will appear to be a bit dry. Be careful not to add too much water which would result in a harder crust.
Step 3: When dough is uniform, press it into the bottom of your pie plate. I then form the edges with my fingertips to create a more polished look.
Step 4: Using a fork, poke several holes in the bottom of the crust.
Step 5: It can be baked blind (350ºF for 20 minutes or until slightly golden), frozen for up to two weeks, or used in any baked pie recipe and baked according to that recipe.

Options
Looking for ways to change up this 3-ingredient pie crust? Here are some suggestions.
Lard: For an extra rich crust, use lard instead of butter.
Gluten-Free: Use almond flour or another gluten-free flour in place of regular flour.
Tips:
- Be sure to prick the bottom of your pie crust to prevent bubbling.
- When measuring your flour, scoop it out with a spoon and pour it into the measuring cup until it's overflowing, then level it off with a knife. This prevents using too much flour.
