Refrigerate these sliders for up to 3 days in an air-tight container. For longer storage, wrap the sliders in plastic wrap and freeze them for up to 3 months in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag. Defrost in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

To reheat the sliders, place them on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 325 until heated through.

Tips for Making the Best BBQ Chicken Sliders

  • Using a very sharp, serrated bread knife makes it much easier to cut the rolls evenly and without squishing them.
  • I find the easiest way to quickly and easily cut the Hawaiian rolls is to leave them stuck together and cut the entire thing all at once.
  • Coat the baking dish evenly with non-stick spray, but don't add so much that it pools and makes the buns soggy.

What are sliders?

Originally, sliders were simply small hamburgers. These days, however, sliders are any kind of hot, meaty sandwich made on rolls or buns.

What is the best way to shred chicken?

Shredding chicken is easiest while it's warm. You can use two forks or shredding claws to manually shred it, or use a food processor.

How do you know when BBQ chicken sliders are done?

When the tops of the buns are toasted, the sliders are done. They're made with pre-cooked chicken, so there's no worry about food safety. Just watch the tops of the buns, and you'll be golden - literally.
