Easy Air Fryer Brats
Air Fryer brats are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. All brats need is a quick trip in the air fryer to crispy perfection.
Summer is winding down, but the temperature is still hot! The other day, I was taking a look through my fridge to figure out what do for dinner, and I saw a package of brats that I needed to use.
I didn't want to go outside and stand in the heat to make the brats, so I started looking around my kitchen for a way to cook them that would still be delicious without roasting in the heat.
Then my eyes landed on my air fryer, and I decided it couldn't hurt to give them a try in the air fryer. And, I am so glad that I did! These brats in the air fryer turned out so delicious. My entire family love them. They are juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I am sure you will enjoy these brats in the air fryer as much as we do!
What kind of brats should I use
I use the Johnsonville Brats and most of my family prefers them. They have a lot more flavor than other brat brands that I have tried in the past, so I was happy to see how well they cooked up in my air fryer.
You do not have to use the same brand that I did. I just prefer this brand because they cook great in the air fryer. However, whatever kind of brats you decide to use, I am sure they will be delicious!
Why cook brats in an air fryer
I know it might sound strange to cook brats in a non-traditional way. It's not like they were made for an air fryer, right?
Well, the reason that I love to cook my brats in an air fryer is because they are so crispy. These crispy brats are delicious and just as good as the ones served at a fair or restaurant!
I also love that you can still prepare them in your own home without having to stand outside and roast them in the heat. I love saving money and time, so this is a big plus for me!
You can also cook a lot of brats at one time in your air fryer if you are hosting a party or serving a large group of people. This will make preparation much easier on you!
What kind of air fryer do I need
You can use any type of air fryer that you have on hand. There's no need to use a specific model to make these air fryer brats. I personally like to use a basket style air fryer but there are several different air fryers to choose from. Each one has it's own pros and cons. It is important to read reviews on each air fryer to decide which one you would like to purchase for your home.
What should I serve with air fryer with brats
No matter what time of year it is, I always like to serve mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. However, if you live in a state that doesn't sell good tasting sauerkraut, then try your hand at making it yourself before you give up on finding some!
What are the benefits of air frying food
Air frying food is much healthier than using the stove or oven to cook. Air fried foods have less fat and calories and are lower in cholesterol. If you eat these crispy air fryer brats as part of your dinner, then you are helping yourself maintain a healthy diet.
You can also save time by cooking your favorite dishes in your air fryer. It cooks much faster than a oven or stove, and it is easier to use. You can watch your favorite TV shows while you prepare dinner in the air fryer!
What are my tips for cooking perfect brats?
Make sure that you thoroughly thaw out your brats before cooking them in the air fryer. If you try to cook a frozen brat, it will make the inside very chewy and it also prevents them from getting crispy on the outside.
Make sure that your brats are placed in the air fryer evenly. This way they will all cook at an even rate and none of them will become burnt or overdone.
Remember to brush your brats with a little bit of oil before cooking them in the air fryer. This will help prevent them from sticking to the basket while they cook and it will also make them nice and crispy on the outside!
Why didn't my brats turn out crispy?
Did you put too many brats in your air fryer? This is one of the main reasons why you won't get crispy brat. I suggest that you cook no more than 4-5 at a time. The basket gets crowded if you try to place too many in there at once, and this also prevents them from getting crispy on the outside.
How do I know when they are done cooking
It is important to look at your brats while you cook them in the air fryer. Once your brats start to get crispy, check the internal temperature and once it reaches 160 degrees you are ready to serve them.
