Turkey Cake Pops
I love to add fun little accents to my holiday gatherings, and these cake pops are one way I do that at Thanksgiving. While they're cute enough for the kids, they're tasty enough for everyone. I also think they make a great little pop of color on the Thanksgiving table.
Ingredients
It only takes a few basic ingredients to make this incredibly easy recipe.
- chocolate cake mix prepared according to box directions
- white frosting
- chocolate bark
- thin dark chocolate Oreos
- candy corn candies
- candy eyeballs
- yellow candy balls
- heart sprinkles
Instructions
It only takes a few minutes and a few simple steps to make this incredibly easy recipe.
Bake cake according to package directions. Allow cake to cool completely.
Crumble the entire cake in a large bowl with a fork.
Add frosting and work it into the cake crumbs with your hands until it forms a ball.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
Freeze them for 1 hour.
Melt chocolate bark in a microwave-safe cup that cake balls can be dipped in.
Using two forks, roll each cake pop in melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Place dipped cake pops on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Before chocolate hardens, place an Oreo on the backside.
Carefully place the eyes, nose, and mouth in place. I like to use a tweezers. And if the chocolate hardens too quickly, you can add a bit of melted chocolate on the back sides of the eyes, noses, and mouths to act as glue.
Finally, dip the tips of each candy corn in melted chocolate and place three of them on each turkey to create the feathers. You may have to hold them for a bit until the chocolate hardens.
Chill before serving.

Options
Looking for ways to change up these turkey cake pops? Here are some suggestions.
Homemade: If you're feeling fancy, you can make this using homemade cake and frosting.
White Turkey: Use white cake, vanilla frosting, and Golden Oreos to make white turkeys.
Tips:
- Don't refrigerate your cake balls longer than an hour. If you do, they'll be too cold, and they might cause your chocolate coating to crack.
- Hold your candy corn in place for a few seconds to ensure that they adhere to the Oreos.
- Tweezers make it so much easier to add the facial features onto these turkey cake balls.

FAQ
They'll last for up to a week in the refrigerator.
You can freeze them for up to 3 months, but I don't recommend it. The candy and the Oreo might get dislodged.
You didn't add enough frosting. The frosting is the binder. If there isn't enough, the balls will be crumbly.
