Apple Pie Crescent Ring
Apples! Oh, how I love apples! There is just something about the aroma of fresh apples baking in the oven as the cool autumn winds blow outside. I remember as a girl getting so excited when the apples on my grandma's tree were ready to be picked. I knew that meant a wide variety of yummy desserts were headed my way.
One of my favorites will always be Grandma's Baked Apples. It is a given that I absolutely love the flavors, but every time I eat them, I am taken back to a time when things were a bit simpler. I can still hear my aunts and uncles laughing at the table as me and my cousins played in the living room. It is impossible to turn back the clock but to be reminded of those sweet times is priceless.
Now, I know that my grandma never heard of my Apple Pie Crescent Ring, but I can guarantee that she would have loved it! I made a few tweaks to her delicious apple pie recipe, wrapped it up in light, golden crescent dough, and created a masterpiece!
Check out the simple recipe below and start creating priceless memories of your own!
Ingredients for my Apple Pie Crescent Ring:
- 4 cups apples, peeled and chopped (I use Gala because we like a nice sweet apple)
- 1 tsp all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ tbsp tapioca
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 16 crescent rolls (2 8-ounce cans)
Directions for my Apple Pie Crescent Ring:
1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Separate crescent rolls into 16 triangles. Place them on a greased cookie sheet. Arrange triangles so the short sides form a circle. When done, it should look like a sun.
3. Combine remaining ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
4. Evenly spread apple mixture around the inner circle.
5. Fold triangle ends over and around apple mixture, tucking it under bottom layer of dough to secure it.
6. Brush top of dough with the egg white.
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 or until top is golden brown.
